Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed the importance of strengthening dialogue and cooperation between China and the United States during his meeting in Beijing with a U.S. Senate delegation led by Senator Steve Daines, emphasizing that relations between the two countries directly impact global stability and the interests of both peoples.

Wang Yi described the visit as the first bipartisan U.S. Senate delegation to visit China since President Donald Trump took office, noting that it carries “important symbolic significance” and opens the door to building new bridges for communication and cooperation between the two sides.

The Chinese foreign minister said Beijing seeks to develop relations with Washington based on “mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation,” stressing that China does not seek hegemony and remains committed to peaceful development.

Wang Yi also called on the U.S. side to view China objectively, respect its core interests, and properly manage differences in a way that contributes to greater stability and positive outcomes for the international community.

Members of the U.S. delegation, for their part, shared their impressions of China and their views on the future of bilateral relations, while both sides exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common concern.
