The city of Cairo is set to host the Contemporary Dance Nights (CDN) 2026, organized by the Ministry of Culture of Egypt, from April 29 to May 3, 2026, featuring a diverse lineup of performances by artists and dance companies from Egypt and several countries around the world.
The festival will open on April 29 with an inaugural evening showcasing contemporary dance performances at venues across central Cairo, offering free admission to the public as part of ongoing efforts to promote cultural participation and support the performing arts sector.
The program includes a series of artistic residency and new production showcases, staged at prominent cultural venues such as Radio Cinema, Al-Samer Theater, and Cairo Grand Library Theater, highlighting innovative choreography and creative collaborations between local and international performers.
In addition, the festival features the “First Step” program, designed to support emerging talents and provide young choreographers and dancers with opportunities to present their work to wider audiences, fostering creativity and professional development within the contemporary dance community.
The event will conclude on May 3 with a closing ceremony featuring selected performances and a reception celebrating artistic exchange and cultural dialogue. Contemporary Dance Nights is considered one of Egypt’s leading cultural festivals, contributing to the vibrancy of the national arts scene and strengthening Cairo’s position as a regional hub for contemporary performing arts.
